Ice Release

Ice Release is an advanced nature transformation that combines wind and water chakra to make ice and snow. It is one of the most versatile of the advanced elements, capable of being moulded into countless shapes adapted for offence, defence or anything in-between. One who wields Ice Release can reshape the entire battlefield to their will by engulfing it in ice.

It can create ice as sharp as a blade and as hard as a rock and cold enough to chill the very earth and air around it.  This element can create protective walls of ice, shoot high speed icicles, drop giant blocks of ice, wrap their limbs in solid ice, forge weapons out of ice and many other possibilities.

This style is far more resistant to fire and heat than ordinary ice as it requires extremely high temperatures to melt, is far more durable which allows it to withstand greater amounts of physical force and so cold that it could potentially freeze water just by proximity. Those performing these techniques can dissolve any of their constructs of ice they’ve created to remove them from the field.

Naturally, it is just as capable of creating snow as it is ice such as summoning streams of snow to blow away their enemies, numbing all feelings from one’s body with snowfall, shooting boulders of snow, building golems of rock-hard snow, and creating avalanches that can bury anyone and anything caught in their path.

The Yuki Clan of the Land of Water were the undisputed masters of Ice Release, taking advantage of their homeland’s cold, wet climate and proximity to the sea to fuel their powerful chakra natures. Their signature ninjutsu was the Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals to let them cross the battlefield with incredible speed using their reflections. Combined with the abundance of ninjutsu possible with Ice Release’s diversity, they were a truly fearsome clan cursed by their many enemies.

Unfortunately, there are very few Ice Release wielders left in the island nation though the blood of the Yuki Clan continues to be passed on.

Most Famous Users

Haku – He is a descendant of the Yuki Clan through his mother’s side who hid her heritage as a civilian. He awakened his kekkei genkai as a child and, upon entering the shinobi world, proved to be a genius with the incredible potential. Haku recreated a number of his clan’s ice ninjutsu, including their prized Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals, merely from hearing about them and may have gone on to rebuild the entire style if he had not died so young to save his master.

Chuukichi – Like Haku, he is a descendant of the Yuki Clan but was born and raised in Kirigakure and wasn’t much interested in recreated the ninjutsu of his clan. As evidenced by his moniker, The Snowman, Chuukichi had a preference for creating snow style ninjutsu instead though he was no less deadly for it.
